The Eclectic Voyager

Hi, I’m Shelly | Travel blogger & school social worker sharing realistic travel tips and adventures from around the world. I help ordinary people realize their extraordinary travel dreams by providing practical travel tips and itineraries. In the past 5 years, I have traveled to 5 continents and 15 countries and I am always planning my next trip.

I created this blog because I realized that many of the popular travel blogs out there are promoting ‘full time travel’ or ‘how to travel on $5 a day’ and I honestly feel that this is not a realistic goal for most people. It is certainly not a realistic goal for me. I hope that this blog will provide wanderlusters who have homes, families, structured work schedules or the homebody spirit with information/inspiration to travel the world on their terms.

So why am I qualified to write this blog??? I have traveled in many different fashions. I have studied abroad, lived in South Africa and on a tropical Pacific Island. I have backpacked through Europe. I have stayed in hostels, tents and five star hotels. I have learned to scuba dive, surf and summit mountains. I have conquered fears. I’m not broke yet. I am definitely not rich. I have a full time job. I am an average person.
